Loi Krathong is one of the most beautiful times in the country. Thailand and parts of Laos and Burma annually celebrates this glittering festival.   Loi Krathong literally translates to “Floating Crown or Decoration”.

This festival occurs on the full moon of the 12th month in the traditional Thai lunar calendar, which usually falls in November in the western calendar.

Krathong refers to a lotus-shaped container to be floated on water. It is decorated with folded banana leaves, incense sticks, and candles. Sometimes a small coin is also placed as an offering to the river spirits and the Goddess of Water, Phra Mae Khongkha.
